Event Details

From 726-843 AD, the Orthodox Church in the Byzantine Empire underwent one of the most violent controversies in Christian history.  Why were so many people willing to die over artistic representations of Jesus Christ?  Dr. Nassif will explain the theology of icons and their use in worship and devotion.

Dr. Nassif lives in Sugar Grove.  He is a Professor of Theology at North Park University (Chicago), a former consultant to the New York Times and Christianity Today magazines, and published author with Oxford University Press.
