On August 21, 2017, for the first time in almost 30
years, a total solar eclipse will be visible from the continental U.S. in a
71-mile-wide path stretching from Oregon to South Carolina. From the Chicago
area, about 85% of the Sun will be covered by the Moon. Learn about eclipses
and how you can enjoy this exciting event! Michelle Nichols of Adler
Planetarium will present. At 6:15 pm Michelle will lead the group in a viewing
of the sun through a telescope outside. Lecture begins at 6:30 pm.
