Northwestern Medicine exercise physiologist Laura File, a classically trained piano teacher, will explore the effect music has on your health and how different tempos and types of music might make you feel. Utilizing a vast spectrum of music genres from rock to pop to country, we will discuss the strategic use of different types music to provide daily benefits from heart health to exercise performance to decreasing depression symptoms. Breathing exercises are taught to diverse musical pieces to help you on your wellness journey.

Groovin in the Grove: Vital Signs
The Sugar Grove Arts & Entertainment Committee will kick off its 2023 FREE outdoor concert series with Vital Signs on Thursday June 15th, 7:00pm.
Join us for this FREE fun community gathering: listen to great live music, visit with your neighbors, and try something new from a food truck or bring your own snacks.
Know Before You Go:
- Bring your own lawn chair or blanket
- Outside food and drink is allowed
- Public restrooms will be open inside the Library.
-Parking is availble in the Library's front parking lot or across the street.
- Service animals are allowed.
No registration required, but if you would like to receive a text or email reminder of the concert, please sign up! In the event of a rain date, we will contact anyone who has registered.
The Sugar Grove Arts & Entertainment Committee is comprised of staff and volunteers from the Village of Sugar Grove, Sugar Grove Park District, Sugar Grove Township, Sugar Grove Chamber of Commerce, and the Sugar Grove Public Library District.

Your 3-5 year old will join us for a fun time and develop independence, literacy, language, and social skills as well as positive associations with reading and the library. Caregivers do not attend the class, but must stay in the library. Register with Sugar Grove Public Library District card.

Illinois Libraries Present: Braiding Sweetgrass and the Honorable Harvest: A Conversation with Robin Wall Kimmerer
Join us online or in the NOW Space for a watch party featuring an online conversation with Robin Wall Kimmerer, the award-winning author of "Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants."
In this insightful and inspiring talk, Robin will share her unique perspective on the interconnectedness of humans and nature and the importance of recognizing and respecting the gifts of the earth. She will delve into her own experiences as a botanist, indigenous science professor, and environmental advocate, and offer insights into her journey of learning to listen to the voice of the natural world. This is a rare opportunity to hear from one of the most important voices in the movement toward a more sustainable and equitable future and to be inspired to make positive changes in your own life and community.
Robin Wall Kimmerer is an acclaimed author, botanist, and indigenous science professor known for her deep connection to nature and passion for promoting a more sustainable and equitable world. Her writing blends indigenous knowledge, scientific research, and personal experiences to offer a unique perspective on the interdependence of humans and the natural world. Her first book, "Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants," has received widespread praise and has become a touchstone in the movement towards rethinking our relationship with the earth.
